Mechanical platform scale

This image shows a traditional heavy-duty mechanical platform scale (often called a steelyard or beam balance scale). Unlike electronic scales, it operates purely via a counterweight leverage system, making it an ideal choice for rugged industrial locations, agricultural depots, and rural markets where electricity is unavailable or unreliable.

Graduated Scale Beam: The horizontal brass or steel bar at the top featuring etched numeric markers.
Counterweight Hanger & Weights: The vertical rod hanging at the end of the beam where heavy slotted cast-iron disc counterweights are added to expand the total weighing range.
Weighing Deck: A rugged steel or cast-iron base plate used to stack heavy bags, agricultural produce, or hardware items.
Heavy Cast Wheels: Four hard-wearing bottom casters designed to roll the scale across coarse warehouse floors.
